Who we are

Jamie Ramos is a Chicago, IL based Family Dog Mediator, Victoria Stilwell Academy–Certified Dog Trainer, and holds OCN London Bespoke Level 5 qualifications in Dog Behavior. Her work is guided by the Total Welfare model, taking a whole-dog approach that looks beyond obedience to consider each dog’s learning history, environment, genetics, health, unique quirks, and emotional well-being.

Jamie’s philosophy is shaped by her own dogs: Emma, a 9-year-old Puerto Rican street dog and tripod following cancer, and Nelly, a 3-year-old shepherd/husky/cattle dog mix whose long-standing leash reactivity and isolation anxiety were ultimately rooted in undiagnosed hip dysplasia. These experiences reinforce Jamie’s belief that meaningful behavior change starts with understanding the why behind the behavior.

As a FDM, Jamie helps families balance their dogs’ needs with their own to find compassionate, sustainable solutions. This relationship-centered coaching goes beyond dog training and allows for you to truly “get to know your dog.”

At The Collaborative Canine we do not believe in “one size fits all” solutions. Having spent 30 years working in the theatre arts, (MFA Directing), creative problem solving is our second nature. As a VSA-CDT, Jamie is committed to positive training methods and looks forward to teaching you about the science around canine behavior.
